Cobb County police said three teenagers will face charges for lying about who bought alcohol that may have contributed to the traffic death of a 16-year-old boy.

Garrett Reed died Jan. 24 in a two-vehicle accident in Powder Springs.

Trent Benson and Matthew Graeff and a third unnamed boy were accused of conspiring to make false statements to police.

Police said the obstruction charge is a misdemeanor.

The teen's death also resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old Powder Springs woman. Kecia Whitfield was charged with providing alcohol to minors at a party Reed attended before he was killed.
