Teen surrenders after killing co-worker Christopher Chambers at Jonesboro McDonald's

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Police say a 16-year-old is facing charges after he shot and killed his coworker at a Jonesboro McDonald's in the 6600 block of Tara Boulevard Thursday night.

According to Clayton County police, officers responded to a 911 call around around 7:30 p.m. in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they found Christopher Chambers, 18, inside with an apparent gunshot wound.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

Investigators found that Chambers and the shooting suspect are both employees at the restaurant.

They said the preliminary investigation revealed the suspect walked into the restaurant, shot Chambers and ran from the scene.

The suspect tued himself in to Clayton County police as they were preparing warrants for his arrest Friday moing.

He was taken into custody and transported to a Regional Youth Detention Center on charges of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault, according to police. 

Clayton County Police Department detectives are working to determine the motive behind the shooting.
