- The Clayton County Police Department say they have arrested a College Park man who shot and killed a man on Roxbury Drive in Riverdale on Wednesday.

According to the arrest warrant, Jamauri Jones, 18, was arrested Thursday after detectives determined Jones was responsible for the death of the man. According to the Clayton County Police Department, Jones opened fire at the Roxbury Drive home Wednesday, striking 28-year-old Errol Meekins of Jonesboro at least once.

Responding officers discovered Meekins shot and unresponsive. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said in a Thursday press release that it is unknown if there was an altercation at the home prior to the shooting.

”The investigation revealed that the shooting may have been a retaliatory act in response to a physical altercation which occurred weeks prior between Jones and Meekins over allegations that Jones stole Meekins’ wallet, Marbury said in the release.
