Teacher allegedly drags kindergartner by his ankle

The alleged incident happened August 15 at the school, but was not investigated until the parent of the kindergartner emailed the principal – after a 4th grader told him about the incident.

The police report says a paraprofessional in the classroom said the student was not listening, following directions or staying seated. Bingham reportedly "grabbed a student by the ankle and dragged him across the classroom, causing him to hit his head on the floor," after he failed to listen.

The teacher then grabbed the student "by the ankle, out the classroom, down the hallway and to the front office."

The incident came to light after a 4th grader witnessed what happened in the hallway and told his or her parents.

A school district spokesman would only say they "don't comment on personnel matters" and that the teacher is "no longer in the classroom."

The principal sent a letter home to parents on Thursday reassuring they that Bingham would not be retuing to the school, and letting them know that she is looking for a qualified replacement for the class.

The information on Bingham from the Professional Standards Commission shows no red flags.
