ATLANTA -- A quick-thinking employee at Caribou Coffee helped police catch a man who they said walked into the coffee shop and snatched a laptop out of a customer’s lap.

Police arrested 19-year-old Antavious Monds in connection with the crime, and he was charged with robbery and simple battery.

Investigators said the victim, Julia Greenhill, told them that she was sitting in the coffee shop in the Edgewood District when Monds entered and grabbed her computer. At first, Greenhill said she tried to hang on to the Apple Mac Book, but eventually let it go, investigators said.

That’s when Jerald Baxter, who was working behind a counter at the shop, decided to chase Monds down, investigators said.

Baxter noticed an Atlanta police officer patrolling the area and yelled, ”He just robbed someone, police said.

The officer, as well as a second man, joined the pursuit, police said.

Police said Monds put up a fight, punching both the coffee shop employee and the second man. Monds was eventually pepper-sprayed and handcuffed, police said.
