Douglasville Police say a mother of four is dead after being shot in front of her children as they sat inside a vehicle at a subdivision in Douglas County late Monday night.

According to Investigators, the shooting occured around 10:30 p.m. at the Hunters Ridge subdivision. The woman, her children and her mother were sitting inside the car when she was shot to death by the suspect, identified as 34 year-old Paul Humphries.

Humphries fled the scene and later shot himself.

The neighborhood was on lockdown for a short time but it has since been lifted.

When police arrived on scene, they found the woman dead inside the vehicle. Humphries is currently listed in critical condition at an area hospital. Police say the shooting was a result of a domestic situation.

The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of relatives. Family members tell CBS46 News that Humphries is not the father of any of the children.
