Sue's Day Care

An Oklahoma day care is under investigation, accused of doing something unthinkable and drugging children in its care.

KXII reported that Sue's Day Care in Durant, Oklahoma, is under investigation by the state's Department of Human Services. The investigation came after an employee claimed she witnessed babies being given Benadryl to put the children to sleep, according to the Sheriff's Department.

One mother said she had trouble waking her 8-month-old son between bites at dinner.

"Then after he'd eat, he'd go to sleep, say 6 o'clock, and wouldn't wake up until 6 the next moing, Leslee Meade told KXII.

She said she considered taking her child to the hospital but then received the call from DHS about the investigation.

Detective Jeff Wilson told KXII that, "Right now we have seven victims."

Employees claim they were directed to use the medicine on the children by the center's owner Beverly Sue Stair, Wilson said.

"Their (Child Welfare Department) findings were a bottle of Benadryl in the nursery in an unmarked bottle," Meade said.

Wilson said the case will be tued over to the District Attoey's Office. Stair could face felony child abuse charges.
