In case you hadn’t guessed from the onslaught of ‘promposal’ stories, it’s prom season in America, which means that kids all over the country are gearing up for one of the biggest nights of their lives so far.

But despite being a massive prom enthusiast, and being on his high school’s prom committee, Las Vegas teen Anthony Martinez wasn’t really looking forward to prom this year.

You see Anthony is gay, and single, and all he wanted was to be asked to prom by a boy.

He told NewNowNext: ‘Being gay, and knowing I’m too busy for guys, no gay guy would ask me to a dance, let alone prom,’

In true teen spirit Anthony took to twitter to share his sadness, tweeting…

 

 

And then, just like a fairy tale, Anthony’s prom dreams were answered.

Unknown to him, his best friend Jacob Lescenski – who happens to be straight – saw his tweets, and decided to step up to the plate.

Talking about his decision to ask Anthony to prom, Jacob told NewNowNext: ‘I decided on going to prom alone because my original date idea didn’t work out so well,’

He went on: ‘Then one night I saw Anthony, who is my best friend, tweeting about wanting a date.’

And Jacob didn’t do things by halves. No, he went all out, and asked Anthony to prom with this rather epic banner…
