Space Needle serves as handy Angry Birds slingshot
What better place to catapult Angry Birds into space than from the 605-foot-high Space Needle?
The iconic Seattle landmark, built for the 1962 World's Fair, is celebrating its 50th anniversary and the launch of Rovio's "Angry Birds Space" game by dangling a 300-foot slingshot holding a giant 35-foot Angry Bird.
The "art installation," which won't actually fling any fowl, kicked off the launch of the game and is reviving the Emerald City's pride.
@mojotillett tweets "This how we roll here in Seattle." Our feathered friend isn't the only odd contraption to be suspended from the tower.
Past perchers include a 50-foot-wide crab to commemorate the city's seafood festival, as well as a 70-foot-tall gorilla raising money for United Way.
