Shootout at Gwinnett Quik Trip gas station had people running for cover
Police are searching for two men after they opened fire on a vehicle at a gas station.
According to Gwinnett County police, the incident happened on Sept. 20 around 6:30 p.m. at the Quik Trip located at 3490 Centerville Highway in unincorporated Snellville.
The driver of a white Dodge Jouey backed into a parking space and approached a silver passenger car. After approaching the driver’s side of the silver car, the man then walked to the passenger side and began to have a conversation with the occupant in the front passenger seat.
A passenger of the white Dodge got out of the car holding a handgun in his waistband and walked along the sidewalk away from the driver.
While the Dodge's driver talked with the passenger of the silver car, the driver of the silver car drove forward quickly. The Dodge driver pulled a handgun from his pocket and began shooting at the silver car. The passenger from the Dodge ran back to the scene and also began firing at the fleeing car
Several witnesses were in the parking lot and ducked for cover when the shooting began.
Both attackers were seen chasing after the victim’s car as it left the parking lot.
Someone from inside the white Dodge then drove toward an alteate exit. The two shooters got into the Dodge, and headed north on Centerville Highway.
Several shell casings were recovered from the parking lot and placed into evidence.
Shortly after the shooting took place, an innocent bystander pumping gas noticed that he had been shot in the foot. His injuries were non-life-threatening, and he was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment.
The white Dodge Jouey has since been recovered.
