Shannen rang police in Westampton Township after the 27-year-old fan posted several disturbing messages to the actress on Twitter.

In the 911 recording obtained by TMZ on Sunday, the conceed 41-year-old does her best to explain the situation:

'This is going to sound incredibly strange, as it does to me as well,' the Beverly Hills 90210 icon explained to the dispatcher.

'My name is Shannen Doherty and I'm an actress. I'm on Twitter, sadly, and there is a girl that is threatening to shoot herself and she lives somewhere over there.'

While sounding calm, Shannen is clearly at loss at how to help the 27-year-old woman.

'I have no idea the correct response, I am completely untrained to deal with someone threatening suicide especially over Twitter.

'She has stated she has a gun and she is going to shoot herself.'

At the suggestion of the operator, Shannen manages to convince the woman to give her address.

According to Shannen, her own security team had expressed conces about the woman as a potential threat to the star.

'She is definitely not fully mentally capable at this point,' she said.

'My security guys told me to block her because she is super aggressive and was very erratic - so they wanted me to block her - but I haven't done it because I felt bad for her to be honest.

'But at the same time I'm now sitting her freaking out, being held hostage and I can't do anything.'

With police on their way, the operator kept the actress on the phone  and also finally realised who he was speaking to.

'All my co-workers can't believe who I am on the phone with,' the operator tells the star.

Shannen replied: 'Well tell them hi and say thank you.'

Police soon arrived at the fan's house and established that despite her threats, she was not actually going to take her own life.

Shannen later thanked her new friends in the Westampton Police Department.

'Thank you to the Westampton police department for being diligent and so reassuring,' she wrote.
