Search for “Person of Interest” in Abduction of Smyrna Teen Antonio Gonzalez
Authorities have named a person interest in the apparent carjacking and abduction of Smya teenager.
Investigators with the Smya Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations released a picture of a man in his early 20s Sunday for which they are actively searching in connected to the disappearance of 15-year-old Marco Antonio Gonzalez.
Gonzalez was listening to music in a family car with his cousin near the intersection of Glendale Place and Glendale Circle on Friday around 9 p.m. when two men took the car. His cousin was able to get away, but Gonzalez was still inside when the thieves drove off.
This prompted a Levi's Call, which is name for Georgia's Amber Alert system.
The car is described as a 2002 Grey Mercedes-Benz S500 with Georgia Tag reading "DC8N74."
Gonzalez is 5 foot 7 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds with short black hair, brown eyes, and has braces. He was last seen wearing red IZOD Polo shift, black shorts, with red and black Air-Jordan basketball sneakers.
The suspects were both described around 5 feet tall, weighing 100 to 120 pounds. Both ranged in age from 18 to 20 years old. The first man was seen wearing a grey and black striped hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect was said to have a round face with big cheeks and no facial hair wearing a light blue and yellow vertical striped Polo shirt.
Police would not verify if the person of interest is one of the suspects listed in the Levi’s Call, but did add that the suspects and the person of interest should be considered armed and dangerous.
The Gonzalez family held vigil Sunday moing with a priest performing Mass on their front porch. They are praying and pleading for Marco's safe retu.
