Saxby Chambliss critical of Iran extension

U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga) released a statement today criticizing the decision by the U.S. and five allied nations to extend, yet again, nuclear talks with Iran by seven months. The Monday's agreement also grants Iran another $5 billion in sanctions relief, making it possible for the nation to retrieve money frozen abroad.

”The extension of the deadline to come to an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program further illustrates Iran’s lack of good faith in these negotiations. Instead of agreeing to an extension that allows Iran to run the clock, the United States should immediately impose tighter sanctions to demonstrate to Iran and the world that we are serious about holding Iran accountable for its continued noncompliance. Thus far, the United States has received little benefit from these delayed negotiations, while Iran has enjoyed the significant easing of its economic sanctions. It’s time for the United States to pull out of these talks and start negotiating on our own terms from a position of strength.

Secretary of State John Kerry told the press that some new ideas "surfaced" during the talks so the involved allied nations "would be fools to walk away." Interesting choice of words, considering that the West has been playing this game with Iran for about one decade now, trying and failing to limit the nation's ability to produce a nuclear weapon. Clearly, telling the reporters that Iran just won't do what they want is not an option.

"Everybody knows we're being played for chumps by these people," said Bill O'Reilly about the issue Monday night on his FOX News show "The O'Reilly Factor."
