Robin Thicke Fails To Get Wife Paula Patton Back
Despite naming an album after her and some public reconciliation pleas, the Blurred Lines singer's wife files for divorce.

Robin Thicke's wife Paula Patton has filed for divorce and asked for joint custody of their son.

The actress cited "irreconcilable differences" in the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles on Friday.

The 38-year-old and Blurred Lines singer, 37, announced they were separating in February after nine years of marriage. They have a four-year-old son called Julian.

Patton was the inspiration behind much of Thicke's music and appeared in some of his videos.

His latest album, called Paula, sold only 24,000 units in the US when it was released in July. Thicke's previous album, Blurred Lines, sold 177,000 copies in its first week on sale last year.

Thicke promoted Paula with several public appearances which were accompanied by reconciliation pleas.

In May he performed his single Get Her Back at the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas.

Singing on bended knee, he sang the lyrics: "I should've kissed you longer/ I should've held you stronger."
