THERE are more than a handful of athletes vying for the attention of one of the most in-demand singers in the world. But don't be fooled, if you claim to hold that attention without her knowing, Rihanna will take you down.

Newly traded Memphis Grizzlies forward Matt Baes told TMZ on Sunday that he and Rihanna may potentially have a romantic future together one day.

'Rihanna is my friend right now,' he said. 'So we will see where it goes.'

When pressed on the details of their relationship, Baes said it had 'just passed the crush stage.'

Rihanna hit back at the NBA star's comments almost immediately, posting a screenshot of the TMZ interview to her Instagram, accompanied by some rather hilarious hashtags.

The fact that Baes and Rihanna have allegedly never even met hasn't seemed to stop the Grizzlie from milking the rumours for all they are worth — surely the public shaming will.
