There are sensational allegations leveled against two Atlanta police officers.

A stranded citizen said she accepted a ride from the on-duty officers, but said she was driven to another location and raped.

It's important to note the officers have not been charged.

A criminal investigation has been started and for now the two officers are off the street.

Investigators are trying to lea the truth about how two on duty Atlanta police officers handled a traffic stop.

It began with a DUI two weekends ago -- a female driver and female passenger were in the vehicle.

The officers charged the driver and impounded the car -- both routine procedures.

What happened next landed both officers in Major Lane Hagin's office.

Police said because the passenger was stranded the two officers offered the woman a ride. The woman has told police she was taken to an address in east Atlanta and was forced to have sex.

Hagin said investigators transported the woman from Kennestone Hospital to Grady where medical personnel collected potential evidence in a so-called rape kit.

The two police officers are members of the Inteational Brotherhood of Police Officers. Their attoey was unequivocal about the woman's allegations.

The union attoey said the patrolmen are so upset over the accusations. They may file a complaint against the woman for allegedly making up the story.

The officers have been moved inside performing desk duties.
