Police: Woman Wakes Up To Strange Man Straddling Her
Juan Antonio Montoya-Linares

ATHENS, Ga. -- A woman was awakened Sunday by a man trying to rape her, Athens police said.

The 22-year-old victim was asleep in her bed when she woke up to a man attempting to undress her, police said. They said the man was straddling her with his pants down.

The victim pushed the man away and shined the light from her cellphone on him, police said. When he realized she had seen his face, he ran out of the house, police said. Athens officers in the area looking for a suspect in another case spotted the bedroom intruder and ran after him, police said.

After a brief foot chase, police captured 39-year-old Juan Antonio Montoya-Linares. Montoya-Linares was charged with attempted rape, burglary and other offenses.

Police said the victim was not physically injured in the attack.
