Police shot a man threatening his family with a machete Monday afternoon, according to Gwinnett County authorities.

Gwinnet Police shot and killed a 15-year-old Machete-wielding teen on Monday who was threatning his family.

The authorities were responding to a domestic dispute call on Windward Gate Lane in Buford around 3:15 p.m. The caller said that the family was locked inside of a room in the house shielding themselves from a machete-wielding teenager.  The caller said that the teenager was threatening to kill them, according Officer Edwin Ritter of the Gwinnett County Police Department.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they said that Dawntree Ta'Shawn Williams charged at them.

"The officers barely had time to react," said Ritter. "One of the officers was able to yell out to the individual to drop the machete. He did not and the officers were forced to use deadly force on this individual."

Williams was shot after refusing to drop the weapon, police said.
