Police: Coweta County Teens Robbed Atlanta Escorts
COWETA COUNTY, Ga. - Coweta County authorities have charged three teens with robbing women from an Atlanta escort service. They say two teen girls and a 19-year-old man have been charged in connection to the robberies.
Investigators say it was the idea of Stephanie Joy McAlkich, 17, to lure Atlanta escort service women to a rural Coweta County road and rob them at gunpoint. They say she got the idea after buying a poographic magazine at a Coweta County adult bookstore and seeing the escort service advertisements in the back.
”They started calling some of the escort services and were able to get an individual to come down to Coweta County, said Major James Yarborough of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say an escort from Chocolate Fantasy Girls drove down to George Coggin Road in the northeast section of Coweta County. They say 16-year old Nicole Ann Jackson was in on the plan. She is being charged as an adult in Superior Court.
According to investigators, 19-year-old Jonathan Albert Berggren’s role was to rob the escort.
Investigators say the three teens had lured the woman to a driveway on George Coggin Road that belonged to one of their neighbors. They say Berggren hid behind bushes at the end of the driveway and surprised the woman as she talked with the teenage girls.
Investigators say McAlkich’s plan worked so well once, the three decided to try it again. But the next escort to arrive on George Coggin Road was carrying a gun, and during the robbery shot Berggren in the stomach.
Maj. Yarborough says it’s possible that word had gotten back to the other escorts in the same business, and that the new victim was prepared for what might happen. He said in the case of the second victim, it looks like the shooting was a case of self defense.
