Police charge Richard Calvert, Brandi Wheeler, and Belinda Hick with child abuse
Three accused of denying children food

Some disturbing allegations of child cruelty in Floyd County as three people were charged after police say they denied five children of food.

According to investigators, Richard Calvert, Brandi Wheeler, and Belinda Hick, all of 319 Alfred Avenue, locked a refrigerator with a chain and a padlock. Police say Calvert and Hick also locked two of the children in a bedroom of the home.

Investigators did not comment on how long the children were denied food or what led them to the home.

All three were being held at the Floyd County Jail without bond.
