Police arrest Gerardo Hernandez in Missing Teen Monica Ambriz's Murder
JONESBORO, Ga. - Authorities say they’ve made an arrest in the murder of a missing teen whose body was found in Jonesboro last month. Gerardo Heandez, 31, faces charges in the murder of 17-year-old Monica Ambriz, as well as another murder and three armed robberies.
On October 26, Ambriz’s body was found on Arrowhead Boulevard in Jonesboro. She had been reported missing on October 16 after she went on a break from her job at a grocery store, and never retued.
GBI investigators say about three hours after she went missing, Ambriz’s mother saw an unidentified man driving her daughter’s car near Interstate 75. The car was later found abandoned with the teen’s cell phone inside. Her body was located about a mile from the grocery store.
On Thursday, police said Heandez had been arrested and charged with Ambriz’s murder, and they say he is also charged with the murder of 61-year-old Maria Gloria Galvan De Rivera, who lived in Forest Park. She was killed on October 12.
Heandez is also accused of three armed robberies in Forest Park and Henry County since October 12.
