Petition asks Obama to build Death Star
The people strike back, demand that Obama build a Death Star

Surely this is a sign we've all got our priorities straight. So far, more than 16,500 people have signed a petition asking the White House to build a Death Star. The official petition on WhiteHouse.gov needs 25,000 signatures by Dec. 14 before the govement will even consider it.

What benefits could a "Star Wars"-inspired shooting planet bring? The petition says that by focusing defense resources on this project, "the govement can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense." Signatures for petitions on animal rights, disaster relief and other generally popular causes are being crushed by this fantasy for our very own lethal sci-fi orb. [Source]
