Pediatrician Kathy Mansfield Admits To Medicaid Fraud
THOMASTON, Ga. - A Thomaston pediatrician faces 10 years of probation after authorities said she cheated Medicaid out of more than half a million dollars.
The Telegraph newspaper in Macon reports that Dr. Kathy Mansfield pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud. The Georgia attoey general's office says Mansfield was administering a single-dose drug to a child and then using what was left for a second child. The state says she then billed Medicaid as if she'd used a second vial.
The attoey general's office said in a statement that Mansfield also reported that she was using large vials but was actually using smaller, cheaper vials.
The alleged fraud occurred between 2003 and 2007.
Mansfield was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years of probation, restitution of $537,428, $10,000 in fines and investigative costs of $5,000.
