The owner of two dogs that attacked an 8-year-old girl was found guilty on six misdemeanor counts Friday evening, including reckless conduct and owning a vicious dog.

A DeKalb County jury delivered the verdict against Twyann Vaughn after an emotional week in court that included testimony from the victim, Erin Ingram, who is now 10 years old.

One juror cringed during the trial when the girl showed her arm. She was so badly mauled by two pit bulls a surgeon had to remove part of her limb.

The other arm has been left disfigured and her ankles are scarred from the attack. The girl was hospitalized for two months and Ingram’s parents said the medical bills totaled more than $100,000.

"It looked like shredded meat," Tommie Ingram, Erin's father, told jurors when he testified.

"I remember one of the other dogs tried to get the police, and the police shot it and the other dog ran started running in the street," Erin said.

Defense attoey Gerald Griggs maintained the dogs broke out of the kennel when Vaughn wasn’t home.

However, on the last day of testimony a witness said the dogs had gotten out of their kennel before and Vaughn was notified of the problem.
