A bank robbery in Newton County led to a police chase that ended in a crash Thursday afteoon. Officers took two suspects into custody.

 

The robbery happened at the Bank of North Georgia on Salem Road just before 1pm Thursday, according to investigators. A chase began soon after the robbery, and led to Conyers, in Rockdale County.

The chase ended when the suspects crashed into some woods at the Glen Iris apartment complex. One of the suspects was injured, and taken to Grady Hospital.

An officer was injured while responding to the crime scene. His injuries are described as only bumps and bruises.

Authorities were able to recover all the cash taken from the bank when they made the arrests.
