Officer Bennie Bridges Suspended After DUI Arrest, Drug Charges

ATLANTA -- Atlanta police suspended one of its investigators following DUI, speeding and drug possession charges out of Cobb County, the department said.

Investigator Bennie Bridges was arrested by Cobb County police on Feb. 3.

On Feb. 16, Atlanta Police Chief George Tuer said Bridges was being suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal charges. Tuer held a hearing with Bridges. The Atlanta Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards initiated the inteal investigation.

Bridges is charged with DUI, speeding and violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act (possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce).
