Obama is having a hard time becoming popular again

A new New York Times/CBS poll shows Barack Obama's approval rating plummeting to 41 percent, with only 47 percent of those polled approving of the job he's doing - this, despite improving job growth and a cantankerous Republican primary fight that has raised doubts about all of the contenders.

A Washington Post/ABC poll had slightly better news for the president, with 46 percent approving of his performance and 50 percent disapproving. The cost of gas appears to be Obama's biggest albatross. The poll found 65 percent of those surveyed disapproved of Obama's handling of gas prices, even though just half believe there's anything he can do about it.

Is the rising cost of gas the main reason Obama's approval rating nosedived?
