Cobb County parents and students are leaing more about a high school student who died on a field trip in Central America.

A district official confirmed North Cobb High School student Tomari Jackson died Saturday in Belize. The school district plans to release a statement Monday.

We're told students and chaperons were in shallow water near a riverbank when Jackson disappeared. Search crews later found his body.

Tomari Aliijah Jackson, a ninth grader from North Cobb High School, was identified as missing and, following a search by local authorities, confirmed deceased on Saturday, Feb. 13. He and several classmates were away on a trip to Belize
