ATLANTA, Ga. - A medical examiner says the initial phases of his investigation found no obvious cause in the death of a 38-year-old TV sports anchorman from Chicago who was found dead in his Atlanta hotel room.

Daryl Hawks of Chicago station WMAQ-TV was in Atlanta to cover the Chicago Bulls-Atlanta Hawks NBA playoff series when he was found dead Thursday moing.

Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos has said police do not suspect anything criminal.

Dr. Randy Hanzlick, Fulton County's chief medical examiner, said Friday that more time is needed to conduct additional procedures such as microscopic examination of tissues and toxicology testing.

Hawks grew up in Buffalo, N.Y., and has worked at TV stations in the Califoia Bay Area; Raleigh, N.C.; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Palm Springs, Calif.
