New car makes parking easy by folding in on itself
An MIT-sourced idea for an urban commuter car that folds in on itself like a child's stroller for easier parking has become a reality.
European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso unveiled the 4-foot-11-inch-long Hiriko, climbing in through its foldable windshield to demonstrate its functionality.
With a 75-mile range per charge from its wheel-based motor system, the Hiriko would be priced starting at about $16,500, or used as part of urban vehicle-sharing programs; Boston, London, San Francisco and Paris have already shown interest.
Would you drive a Hiriko?
