Missing Floyd Co. teen Meagan Witt believed to be with wanted murder suspect
Mother fears missing daughter is with murder suspect

Deputies are searching for a missing teenager they believe to be in danger.

Barbara Meagan Witt, 19, who goes by Meagan, was last seen Saturday.

Her mother said she thinks a murder suspect is holding the girl against her will.

”To make sure that she's still breathing, that's all I want," mother Cassie Witt told reporters Tuesday.

Floyd County deputies said they believe Meagan Witt could be with a man wanted in a weekend killing.

Her mother made flyers to try to find her, and said that the message at the bottom is particularly important.

The flyer reads, ”Do not attempt to help her; the guy who has her is armed and dangerous.

”It’s one thing when your child vanishes into thin air and you know nothing, but when your child vanishes and you know the last person she was with was a murder suspect, that's scary, Cassie Whitt said through tears.

Cassie Witt said she knew her daughter was friends with the now-murder suspect, Stevie Lamar Gaer, 27, who goes by "Bubba."

She said that a year ago, Gaier put his hands on her daughter, so she did not want him around.

She said she heard on Friday that her daughter was with Gaier.  When Meagan Witt would not answer, Cassie Witt said she called Gaier’s phone to talk to her.

"I asked her then, 'What are you doing with him? He is bad news. I know it and you know it' and she says 'No, he's doing alright right now,'" Cassie Witt said.

Cassie Witt said she received a text message from her daughter the following day, Saturday, and that she has not heard from her since.

On Sunday, she heard something that horrified her.

”I got a text from her brother Sunday moing saying ‘Mama you need to check on Meagan, because I heard that boy killed somebody last night, Cassie Witt said.

Cassie Whitt said a good friend of hers works at a BP gas station in Rome. The friend told Cassie Witt she saw Meagan Witt with Gaier on Saturday night and that the teen was acting strange.

The friend was unaware that Meagan Witt was missing or that Gaier would soon be charged with murder, but she said that she saw Gaier yell at Meagan Witt to get in the car and got a bad feeling..

Floyd County sheriff's investigators confirmed that Gaier is wanted for the murder of 21-year-old Patrick Marcus Wall.

Wall was shot to death in Rome on Saturday night, in the same area Meagan Witt was last seen.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of either Meagan Witt or Stevie Gaier is asked to call police.
