Milton Teen Christopher Walker shot, killed in his driveway
Milton police continue to search for a suspect after a man was shot in his driveway on Tuesday.
Investigators have been questioning neighbors out on the street at the time of the shooting, hoping they may have seen or heard something that lead to Christopher Walker's death.
Capt. Shawn McCarty of the Milton Police Department says the 19-year-old Walker was shot once in the head at his home on Silhouette Court just before 7:30 p.m. Walker was transported to North Fulton Regional Hospital where he later died.
Neighbors in the community were stunned by the shooting.
"It's a shock, and the neighborhood is paralyzed at this juncture," said neighbor Stephan Smith.
Police say they do not believe Walker knew the gunman, and call the shooting random. They say he scuffled with the suspect, who demanded cash and jewelry.
Members of Walker's family said that he was a student at Georgia Perimeter College, and had planned to transfer to Kennesaw State in the fall.
They remembered him as an aspiring musician, gentle soul and kind to everyone he came in contact with.
"Someone who was very loving. Someone who was very caring, for something that was senseless," said his father, Greg Walker.
His mother, Mary Jo Walker, asked anyone with information on the shooting to call police.
"Someone will know something, if they don't know it now, someone will because people talk, people see things," she said.
Police retued to the family home Wednesday afteoon looking for additional evidence. They said that the only information they have on the attacker is that he is an African-American male in his 20s.
