Microsoft CEO: Windows Phone 7 'Coolest' Thing We'll Do This Year

ORLANDO, Fla. — Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer says the Windows Phone 7 software will be the \"coolest\" thing the company releases this year.

Ballmer told information-technology workers at the Gartner Symposium in Orlando Thursday that consumers will be impressed with Windows Phone 7. The first phones running the software will be available Nov. 8.

Ballmer dismissed suggestions that Microsoft Corp. needs to take different approaches to technology for consumers and business users. He said people want the same technology at work as they do at home.

Ballmer also said he has no plans to retire anytime soon.
