Meeting Set to Discuss Eagle Gay Bar Raid
Eagle Gay Bar Raid

ATLANTA - There is to be a town meeting Monday night to discuss the controversial raid of the Eagle Bar.

Earlier this month, a federal judge ordered the city of Atlanta to pay more than a million dollars to people illegally detained during the raid on the gay bar in September 2009.

The judge also ordered Atlanta Police Department to change its policies and investigate the conduct of its officers.

The judge said evidence showed the plaintiffs were unlawfully searched, detained or arrested during a September 10, 2009 raid on the Atlanta Eagle Bar.

The judge also said none of the plaintiffs were personally suspected of criminal wrongdoing.

Lawyers for the Eagle Bar and public safety officials will hold the town hall meeting Monday night at 7 p.m. at The Philip Rush Center at 1530 DeKalb Avenue in Atlanta.
