The streets of Adairsville were lined with people to honor a hometown hero who was killed in action. Marine Lance Corporal Seth Sharp, 20, was buried after being killed in battle in Afghanistan. The lance corporal's family said he had been deployed in Afghanistan for only six weeks.

Shane Rogers said the 20-year-old Sharp played football at Adairsville High School but left high school early to join the Marines.

He is survived by his mother, Angie Sharp, and his father and stepmother, Rick and Tiffany Sharp.

Sharp was killed during Operation Strike of the Sword, the latest push by the United States Marine Corps taking on the Taliban. He was serving in Company E of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines.

Four pastors spoke Saturday at Northpointe Church in Adairsville
of Sharp's sacrifice -- and his faith. One of them, Doug Hasty,
said: "As I was thinking about Seth and his short life, I thank
God for the young men who signed the line and protect our
freedoms."

Sharp's body was retued home Thursday, and he was laid to rest
with full military honors while surrounded by loved ones at
Eastview Cemetery.
