Manhunt for wrestling coach Herbert Ortiz accused of molesting boy after alleged victim IDs him on YouTube

Los Angeles police are searching for a youth wrestling coach who molested a 14-year-old boy after another alleged victim outed him on YouTube.

Herbert Daniel Ortiz, 29, is wanted for abusing the boy during his time as an assistant wrestling coach in Rosemead High School from 2007 to 2009, L.A. sheriffs said.

The teen victim's mother recognized Ortiz, who also goes by Herbert Monroy, from a video she discovered waing parents to "protect" their kids from the coach.

The mother asked her son if Ortiz had abused him, and the boy said yes, the sheriffs said.

The accuser's video has since been pulled down.

Ortiz, last thought to be living in Baldwin Park, was never accused of abuse during his time at the school, according to local reports.

Since 2010, he's worked as a wrestling coach for the Bad News Panthers Children Wrestling Club in Rosemead.

That club's website listed Ortiz as a founder and also said he coached in Virginia, NBC News reported.

Investigators feared there could be more victims.

"Based on the fact that he had access to children and he was involved in coaching young children, especially boys, it's always a potential, based on our experience, that there will be more victims," Rosemean police spokesman Carlos Marquez told KTLA.

Ortiz told Rosemead officials about the YouTube video last week - the Panthers rent practice space from the city -- and was suspended from the club, cops said. He's now on the run, NBC News reported.

Ortiz is 5-8, 160 pounds with brown hair and dark eyes.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Special Victims Bureau detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
