Man who shot employee at Newton County Ingles location in police custody

COVINGTON, GA - Covington Police have arrested a man accused of shooting his wife in a domestic-related incident inside a Covington grocery store, according to police.

Police say the woman who is an employee at the Ingles on Tuer Lake Road was shot in the arm by her husband, 33-year-old Jimquez Swiney Tuesday moing. She was treated at the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Swiney was arrested a few hours later in a wooded area after police said he tried to break into a home on Capes Drive. The homeowner spotted him and called police. Police said an officer saw Swiney on Capes Drive, as he tried to hide behind a tree and arrested him.
