A homicide investigation has been opened after a man was found dead on the side of the road early Sunday moing and now they want to track down the victim’s vehicle.

According to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a report of a possible heart attack victim in Covington at about 7:00 a.m. on Sunday. When police arrived, they found a man unconscious and not breathing on the roadside.  He had been shot several times.

The victim was a Hispanic man in his late 40s. He was seen leaving work around 11:30 p.m. Neighbors said that they had heard gunshots on the area on Saturday night, the day before the man was found. On Sunday, Investigators issued a ”be on the lookout for the victim’s missing vehicle. A black, 1999, Ford Expedition and the driver’s side window may be missing. The license plate number is AWW4152.
