Man Brakes into Home, Rapes Woman, Demands Money

ATLANTA - Police are searching for a man they said broke into a woman's home and raped her. It happened on University Avenue during the early moing hours Saturday.

Investigators said the woman woke up to find an armed man standing over her bed. The victim told police she was assaulted. The man then demanded money from the woman. She said she was able to escape through a bathroom window a short time later and called police.

Police were told the man left the home and fled the area on a bicycle. He reportedly fired shots toward the victim as he left, but did not hit anyone.

The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
