David Dennis Arrested in Rape of Family Member

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - A Coweta County man is accused of raping a relative. Police say it happened the day he was celebrating his release from prison.

Fayetteville police call this case disturbing. They say just one day after David Dennis walked out of Walker State Prison, he committed a terrible crime.

With his head bowed and his hands cuffed, David Dennis walked into the Fayetteville Police Department on Thursday. The 25 year old was arrested on charges of rape and incest. Detectives say he assaulted a 17-year-old relative at his own welcome home party. Dennis had been paroled from prison less than 24 hours earlier.

Police say the rape happened on July 1, and evidence collected at the hospital went to the GBI crime lab. Four months later, police have results.

Detectives hope this arrest brings relief to the young woman's family.
