Thief dumps Lupita Nyong’o’s stolen $150,000 Oscars dress in hotel toilet

Lupita Nyong’o’s $150,000 Oscars dress was stolen earlier this week, but has since been found in a hotel toilet.

A pesky tea-leaf, who no doubt had heard all about the actress’s gorgeous gown and its value as she stunned with it on the red carpet, took advantage when they found Lupita’s hotel room door a jar and stole the frock.

It’s said to be covered in 6,000 akoya cultured pearls. The actress was reportedly not said to be in the room at the time.

But the pilferer was left with egg on their face when they removed some of the pearls and took them to a specialist in LA, only to discover they were in fact fake.

TMZ reports the gown was then retued to the hotel room it was stolen from and dumped in the toilet.

The gossip site also revealed that the would-be robber then contacted them and tipped them off about where the dress was, which they passed on to the police.

According to The Guardian, Sheriff’s department spokeswoman said they are ‘in the process of confirming’ the story.
