Loss prevention officer Jay Ferguson killed at Lilburn Walmart
Police say a Lilbu Walmart security guard was shot and killed while trying to stop a shoplifter with a cart full of flat screen TVs Sunday night.
Jaseramie Dion Ferguson, 25, died Sunday night at the Walmart on Lawrenceville Highway and Pleasant Hill Road.
Just before 9 p.m. Ferguson and another employee noticed a man trying to leave the store with three flat screen TVs he hadn't paid for. The workers confronted the man just inside the Walmart's front door. A physical altercation ensued, according to police, and the suspect then pulled a .38 caliber pistol and shot Ferguson.

Paramedics rushed the victim to Gwinnett Medical, but he didn't survive. Police said Ferguson, who worked as a loss prevention officer, lived in Lilbu.
The suspect escaped in a 4-door burgundy or dark red car. He is described as a dark-skinned black man, in his mid 30's, 5'9" with a medium build, bald and clean shaven. The suspect was wearing a grey or denim button down shirt and dark colored pants. Police said because of the violent nature of the crime, they believe he likely has a criminal past.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Lilbu Police immediately.
