LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A 29-year-old Lee County High School teacher has been arrested on charges related to alleged child molestation and inappropriate sexual contact with a juvenile student, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Danielle Weaver, of Leesburg, was taken into custody on Feb. 18 at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said the arrest occurred without incident. She is currently being held at the Lee County Jail.

The investigation began Feb. 3 when the Leesburg Police Department responded to Lee County High School following reports of inappropriate contact between a teacher and a student. On Feb. 4, the department requested assistance from the GBI to further investigate the allegations. During the joint investigation, officials identified Weaver as the suspect and confirmed the alleged victim is a juvenile enrolled at the school.

Arrest warrants were issued Feb. 17 after coordination between the GBI and the Leesburg Police Department. Officials stated the investigation is still ongoing. Once completed, the case will be forwarded to the Southwestern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Americus at 229-931-2439 or the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 229-759-6012. Anonymous tips may also be submitted by calling 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), online through the GBI website, or via the See Something, Send Something mobile application.
