A Savannah woman and her teenage sister have been sentenced in the 2013 robbery and carjacking of a SCAD student.

The Savannah Moing News reports 20-year-old Lashawnda Sierra Bawell and her 16-year-old sister appeared in court Monday and pleaded guilty to robbery and hijacking a motor vehicle. The two were sentenced to 15-year terms and must serve 10 in prison.

Chatham County Superior Court Judge Penny Haas Freesemann said had the case gone to trial, the two would have faced up to life plus 20 years in prison.

A 17-year-old boy has already pleaded to armed robbery and car hijacking charges in the case. He was expected to testify against the Bawell sisters and has already been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
