An investigation hs been opened by The Georgia Bureau of Investigation regarding a deadly deputy-involved shooting in northwest Georgia on Friday afteoon.

Polk County officials said the deputy answered a call at a Hillside Drive home in Cedartown at about 6 p.m.

A relative told the deputy the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Levi Weaver, was "acting crazy" and "tearing things up."

Moats said Weaver approached the officer with a baseball bat and a knife. The deputy opened fire, and hit Weaver in his chest, killing him. No one else in the home was hurt.

Neighbors say police were often called to the home.

"I didn't hear any gunshots, but we had a neighbor close by that heard two gunshots and it just floored me," said one neighbor who did not want to be identified.

Another neighbor called Weaver "a great kid" who "had a little anger problem."
