Kelly Rowland was left ‘shook up’ after she and her fellow passengers had to be rescued by the coastguard after getting lost at sea.

The X Factor USA judge was travelling with a group on a privately-rented boat before it went off course as the captain became disorientated off Cape Cod in Massachusetts.

Things got hairy when the captain of Rowland’s vessel lost sight of a whale-watching boat that it was following back to shore.

The Coastguard was forced to deploy a towboat who finally tracked down the 32-year-old star and her party bobbing up and down 33 miles (53km) north of Provincetown.

TowBoat U.S. Provincetown said on its Facebook page the passengers were ‘great… just a little shook up.’

The seas off the coast of Boston are a popular whale watching destination.
