Katelyn Markham vanished without trace from Ohio home; $3,000 reward offered for information
Katelyn Markham, 22, vanished from her townhouse and authorities say there is little evidence of what might have happened to her.

A $3,000 reward is being offered for information on a blushing bride-to-be who vanished from her Ohio home.

Katelyn Markham was last seen by her fiancé, John Carter, on Aug. 13. Carter had been with Markham at her home, then after he left she sent him a photo via text message.

The next day Carter tried to reach out to Markham, but the 22-year-old who recently celebrated her birthday never replied.

"I kept texting her and texting her, and there was no response," Carter said, according to the Middletown Joual.

Carter and her family arrived at the townhouse she shared with her father, Dave Markham, to find her car parked outside. The vehicle's keys were inside the home and the bed appeared to have been slept in, but there was no sign of foul play, authorities said.

The only thing missing was her cell phone.

"It's logical to infer foul play is involved, but we still don't know what happened," Lt. Kevin Haddix told WKRC 12 News. "Everyone has theories as to how a person would disappear under these circumstances."

Her dad had not been home the night she disappeared, the Dayton Daily News reported. Her family also insists she was a sincere, honest person with plans to graduate college and get married.

"She's positive, outgoing and motivated. She had a plan and she was sticking to it," her father said. "She would never just leave. She's just too pragmatic. I'm just absolutely terrified."

Markham was set to marry 25-year-old Carter in two years, and was about to receive her bachelor's degree from the Art Institute of Cincinnati next month.

Family and friends fear the girl has been kidnapped.

"Her family and our family are kind of feeling like someone has taken her, someone possibly that she knew," Karyn Winkler, her fiancé's mother, told the Dayton Daily News.

"That's something we're considering," Haddix said.

A massive search involving 100 volunteers, police and fire department personnel has tued up no leads.

"Nothing tued up, not even an article of clothing that could be associated with her," said Fairfield fire Chief Don Bennett.

Anyone with information is asked to call Fairfield police at (513) 829-8201. The $3,000 reward is being offered by an anonymous donor.
