Joseph Zeock: Man accused of setting teen on fire connected to more incidents

A man in jail for setting a teenager on fire may have tried to solicit other children at a public pool just one month earlier.

Channel 2's Kerry Kavanaugh obtained a Gwinnett County arrest warrant charging Joseph Richard Zeock, 62, with enticing a child.

The warrant said Zeock was trying to lure a child inside the locker room at the Gwinnett County Aquatic Center in June.

But police said it was the arrest in another case that helped them make theirs.

Channel 2 Action News was there when Woodstock Police hauled Zeock off to jail in July 2011. He had spent a week on the run following an alleged incident at a Woodstock hotel.

Police said Zeock arranged to meet a 17-year-old, whom he offered cash in exchange for sex acts.

Investigators said the teen was bound and gagged when Zeock began buing undergarments still on his body.

This week Gwinnett County police connected Zeock to another incident in Gwinnett County just one month earlier. "The suspect was naked in the shower and he actually made beckoning motions to him from inside the shower," Cpl. Jake Smith with the Gwinnett County Police Department said.

Smith showed Kavanaugh surveillance photos that show Zeock at the West Gwinnett Aquatic Center on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard June 16th.

According to the police report, Zeock was a regular at the pool.

Police said the child came right back out of the locker room following the encounter and reported it to his parents. But by the time police arrived, the suspect was gone.

"Once he was picked up and we had a good ID on him that actually led to us being able to charge him in this case as well," Smith said.

Kavanaugh checked with the Cherokee County district attoey. Zeock is still in jail there, but has yet to be indicted. The DA said he is waiting on additional evidence.
