Is new spirit Vodquila, which mixes vodka and tequila, a good idea?
New spirit hybrid Vodquila combines vodka and tequila to give 2 hangovers for the price of 1

Depending on your drinking history, this concoction will either fill you with excitement, or make you want to dry heave.

Vodquila is a no doubt intoxicating mix of vodka and tequila. Yes, someone has taken two of the spirits most likely to make you behave very badly indeed and put them together. Because that's a great idea, no?

It is currently available for purchase in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina and Georgia, with many other states being added in the upcoming months.

The potent hybrid is the work of Alabama-based father and daughter duo Chander and Nina Arora. The pair came up with the idea when Chander was mixing cocktails one night and his daughter Nina asked why he'd never tried his two favourite spirits together. Erm, can we answer this one?

Chander mixed the two together and came up with a ‘delicious' new spirit, which they christened Vodquila. With brother Romie brought on board, family Arora then set about putting the mix through a proper distilling process, with the resulting drink grabbing the attention of American drinks brand Red Eye Louie's.

The vodka is distilled six times, while the tequila is harvested from blue agave plants and then distilled. The two are then mixed together to create an award-winning blend.

Yes, we did say award-winning. Vodquila took home a silver medal at last month's prestigious Inteational Wine and Spirit Competition, with judges commending it for its super-clean taste and innovation.

Brother Romie thinks the key is giving people two for the price of one: ‘I believe Red Eye Louie's Vodquila has had so much success because it gives you the best of both worlds.'

Anyone else feel a little queasy?
