Study: Facebook makes you realize you’re a loser

A new study has validated billions of nagging feelings. All those engagement announcements, baby pictures, and party photos on Facebook can erroneously make us believe that the lives of our “friends” are better than our own: “The more time you spend on Facebook, the more you will think that others have happier lives compared to your own.”

Researcher Hui-Tzu Grace Chou followed 425 students in Utah to conduct the study and also found that face-to-face interactions did not engender similar delusions.

Ironically, the author of the Psychology Today story discussing the study closes with a fairly defensive request for readers to follow him on Twitter, “which [he] still enjoys.”
